Dear Albertans,

I have been reading about your secessionist right-wing political troubles.

And hearing about them.

I was in British Columbia and Alberta a year ago And chatted with a bus driver as he took our party to Calgary where we would leave for home in Ohio. He was obviously a MAGA man. Very surprising. Here was a person in one of the best-functioning true democracies in the world praising the actions of a criminal organization led by a madman, a seller of lies, snake oil.

Of course, black snake oil is where Alberta now comes in to play. The madman wants that oil. It is important to realize that petroleum oil is just as much snake oil as political lies. It is killing our planet, burning our forests, choking our breath, and shall most certainly reduce the quality of life our grandchildren and great-grandchildren shall experience in our wake. The agitators from below your southern border don’t give a shit and you cannot believe a word they say.

Alberta’s economy, or the pocketbooks of the billionaires who buy, transport, and process Alberta’s oil, might temporarily benefit from Alberta’s secession. But not the bus driver, be assured. And, in the end, when the oil runs out, everyone, bus drivers and billionaires alike, shall for generations pay the price of listening to the spiel of the snake oil salesmen (and women). We don’t need any more snake oil in politics or in pipelines.

Canada, stay together. Together you are stronger. Your vision is longer and broader. We don’t need East Canada and West Canada. And, MAGA nuts are killing us in Under Canada. Thoughtful Albertans most certainly should not want to be a part of this mess.

Get woke, stay woke, Alberta. What you have right now is priceless.
